The
Process of Project Engagement
Clients
Technology-based companies face a variety of
challenges in their efforts to achieve success in
today’s increasingly competitive marketplace. The
problem of bringing the right products and solutions to
market quickly and efficiently is a universal
challenge. Often, companies need additional
competencies and technical resources to achieve these
goals. Rose-Hulman Ventures understands the close link
between business success and the right technical
solutions. To help you achieve success, we provide
technical assistance to small and large technology-based
companies through project agreements involving
Rose-Hulman students, faculty, and project managers.
Scope
Our client companies define the project. We work
together to analyze your needs, discuss our
capabilities, and then define a project scope
agreement. We work to ensure project agreements provide
an outstanding educational experience for our students
as well as deliver valuable project results to the
client company. Projects may last from one month for a
simple task to a multi-student team working for months
on larger projects. Project schedules are not tied to
the academic calendar of the Institute. We adhere to
client specifications and industry standards while
identifying optimal tools and technologies to help your
business succeed.
Students and Faculty
We assemble the team for your project with
Rose-Hulman
students,
faculty, and project managers. Leading the multi-disciplinary student
project teams are full-time project managers or
Rose-Hulman faculty members. Students are hired for a
specific project by matching their skills and interests
to the project needs. Students work part-time during
the school year and full-time during the summer months.
In collaboration with project managers and the client,
students discover opportunities to learn in the context
of real projects in a professional environment while
being responsible for deliverables.
Infrastructure
We are located on the south campus of Rose-Hulman in
a 35,000 square foot
facility at Aleph Park, a Certified
Technology Park. Our strengths include modeling,
prototyping, and simulation across a variety of
applications and our office and laboratory facilities
are allocated to the needs of your project. We also have
access to the facilities and laboratories of the main
campus of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Funding and Fees
In engineering services agreements, clients cover the
cost of student time and project materials with time
charged at rates comparable to a new engineering hire.
Discounts are available for extended project agreements.
We deliver value to both small and large companies
through engineering services agreements.
