Got Projects?
Is your in-house engineering staff inundated with projects? Do you need specialized engineering expertise that is outside your company’s core competencies? Do you want to provide Rose-Hulman students with vital career-related experiences? If you answered yes, Rose-Hulman Ventures can help. RHV is unwavering in its commitment to offer students the best engineering professional practice experience possible within an academic program. That means hands-on projects in collaboration with real clients where outcomes are both educational to students and value-added to companies. Rose-Hulman can deploy teams of student interns to tackle projects that are waiting in your pipeline. The teams of undergraduates are directed by full-time, RHV professional staff accountable for project management. This approach increases the efficiency and consistency with which the teams achieve deliverables that conform to reasonable timelines and budgets along the way. “One of our strategic advantages is that projects are truly multidisciplinary and can leverage expertise from any combination of Rose-Hulman’s 15 academic programs, and the mix of resources can evolve over time,” explains Mitch Landess, manager of client programs. Landess indicates that a project may begin by requiring heavy mechanical and physics resources in order to achieve early-stage milestones and then require software or electrical expertise for later-stage development. Accommodating the required shift in resources is part of the flexibility of the program. Sourcing top-quality projects from technology-enabled businesses is a key to creating real-world experiences for students. The ideal prospective client is one with a science or engineering need that can benefit from the expertise of students, faculty and project managers. A scope-of-work requiring activities such as design, prototyping, testing, process improvement are great candidates. Areas in which RHV student interns have delivered projects and produced results for clients include: •
