Whether your organization is an emerging company
immersed in bringing new products to market or and
established organization in need of supplementing
your engineering expertise, our students and unique
project management approach deliver technical
solutions that help to shape your business.
Here’s how it works.
HOW TO START -
Define Project
•
Clients and
project managers
together define a solid project scope that
accelerates the company’s technical and business
needs while engaging
student interns
in the technical development.
• Our full-time project managers enable companies to
obtain the expertise needed to deliver specific
project requirements, on-time and on-budget. Project
managers are degreed engineers and serve as the
point of contact for clients to communicate and
report progress of the project. This
approach increases the efficiency and consistency
with which the student teams achieve deliverables.
• The flexibility of the program allows a project to
begin at any time. We are not restricted by an
academic calendar.
• All projects are collaborative in nature and
performed under a “research and development
agreement”. At Rose-Hulman Ventures, the client’s
intellectual property remains with the client. The
agreements are negotiated and reviewed by legal
counsel prior to project kick-off.
• The projects are truly multidisciplinary. We
leverage expertise from any combination of
Rose-Hulman’s 15 academic programs including faculty
and staff. The mix of resources can evolve over
time. For example, a project may begin requiring
mechanical and physics resources in order to achieve
early-stage milestones and require software or
electrical expertise for later-stage development.
Given that student interns are hired for each
specific project, accommodating an adjustment in
resources is easy to do.
EXECUTE
PROJECT.
The Project Team
• Each member of the student team signs a
non-disclosure agreement prior to employment.
• Clients work closely with the student teams and
project manager on the technical development and
project status. We encourage interaction with the
teams.
• Project mangers lead teams of academically
talented students who have proven success in
developing cutting-edge, innovative products and
services for medical, industrial and information
technology markets.
• Student interns apply their engineering skills in
the context of real-world projects and are exposed
to the unstructured technical, business, and
financial issues surrounding the project that
influence their technical work and decisions. They
receive unique and valuable educational experiences
while clients benefit from the resources of one of
the finest engineering institutions in the country.
PROJECT DELIVERY.
The Project Team
• Project delivery takes many forms. It can be a
prototype used in a trade show to potential new
customers. It can be a prototype that directly moves
into the commercial production phase.
SERVICES. Costs
The services we offer focus on concept generation,
prototyping, design, or testing. We provide
expertise from any combination of Rose-Hulman
Institute of Technology's 15 academic programs. Fees
are based on the scope of work required to complete
the project work. We offer a subscription fee which
averages out to the typical cost of internships. For
example, a
four-five intern team equals the financial
commitment of one new hire engineer.
